There are talks that NBA is expanding to two new cities this year as preseason games are scheduled – which are the teams that have been added as a part of the expansion draft?
During the next 2022–23 preseason, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is set to announce league expansion to Seattle and Las Vegas.
NBA needs some needs as per commissioner Silver and the league is ready to add two teams. Seattle and Las Vegas will fall under the western conference as per the locality and the league will need to make some changes in order to cope with the changes.
As scheduled, during Los Angeles Clippers’ two preseason games at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, the NBA will make the announcement about expanding the league to those cities.
As the NBA sought to make up for pandemic-related losses, news emerged last year that Seattle and Las Vegas were the two most likely places to receive expansion teams.
Following the Supersonics’ departure in 2008, Seattle and its basketball fans have been clamouring for the NBA to come back, and their dream may soon come true. Las Vegas is also expecting a team and fans of the city are waiting for some NBA action.
Basketball is very popular in Seattle and the NBA can undoubtedly make money there, as we saw during the CrawsOver Pro-Am League.
LeBron James’ pro-am game in Seattle drew a large crowd of spectators, and when the game had to be abandoned midway through the second quarter because of condensed court, the crowd was understandably dissatisfied.
While the Los Angeles Lakers will play two preseason games at T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 5 and 6, the Los Angeles Clippers will play two preseason games in Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on September 30 and October 3.
The NBA welcomed the Charlotte Bobcats, who are now the Hornets, to the league in 2004, marking the most recent league expansion. Before that, in 1995, the Vancouver Grizzlies, who are now the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Toronto Raptors joined the league.
A new club has long been expected to come to Las Vegas, and now that the NFL has done so with the Las Vegas Raiders just a few years ago, it appears that the NBA will do the same. The fans in these cities will be treated to some tremendous action, which is fantastic news.
