“I am running through Pau’s fu***** chest” – LeBron James and Dwyane Wade share Kobe Bryant’s tactics in new Redeem Team trailer

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade got candid as they shared Kobe Bryant’s tactics in the recently released trailer for “The Redeem Team.”

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade got together to share the late great Kobe Bryant’s tactics in the 2008 Olympics as a part of the newly released trailer for the upcoming “The Redeem Team” documentary. The documentary will focus on the American basketball team for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China as they looked to reclaim the gold medal after losing it in Athens in the previous edition.

In the recently released trailer, two of the biggest leaders in the Redeem Team, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade spoke about how their skipper Kobe Bryant was nailed on to set a benchmark and prove a point ahead of the final. The United States of America led by Bryant and coached by Mike Krzyzewski faced off against Spain in the final, in a match between two undefeated teams.

The trailer began with Bryant speaking on his then NBA teammate Pau Gasol before the clash against the reigning world champions in the final of the Olympics. The American and the Spaniard were teammates at the Los Angeles Lakers, and won two NBA Championships together – but were on opposite sides while fighting for their nations at the greatest show on Earth. And Bryant sure knew his plan of “attack.”

What were Kobe Bryant’s tactics for the final?

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was ready to begin the game with a statement, and chose none other than his teammate to test it on.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade went on tape to reveal that Kobe – looking to set the tone of the game early on – had planned to run through his close friend in the very first play of the game. The reason was that Bryant knew Gasol was going to be a screen for attack, and knocking down their most important player – even after being close friends would send quite the message.

Gasol himself spoke about how Bryant visited him in the Spanish apartment before the game as a measure to “soften him up”, but the Spaniard surely had an idea of what was to come. Neither did James and Wade believe Kobe’s promise of running through a teammate, but come the day of the final – Kobe lived up to his words and knocked Pau Gasol over in the first play of the game.
