LeBron James created several records after being named as an NBA All-Star on Thursday.
The NBA All-Star game has been tradition to the NBA for as far back as we can remember. The best players in the competition all coke together to go up against each other, forming a number of mouthwatering team ups as well as contests that excites the NBA enthusiast more than anything.
The NBA All-Star game is an incredible occasion simply because it features the biggest stars in the competition all coming together in the same arena at the same time. Naturally, an All-Star appearance is testimony of a player’s stature and legacy in the competition, and there is no doubt that it is quite a reliable parameter to judge a player’s impact in the league considering fan votes.
It might not be surprising to many people that with his most recent inclusion in the 2023 All-Star game, LeBron James became the joint highest feature in the All-Star game of all time. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar who is a four-time champion has recently become a 19-time All-Star, equaling the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record as the highest feature in All-Star history.
However, LeBron created quite a few other records as well with his All-Star selection.
What other records did LeBron James create with his most recent All-Star selection?
With his most recent All-Star selection, LeBron will make it to the lucrative All-Star game for the 19th year running.
LeBron’s 19th consecutive appearance is record-breaking considering he moved past legendary Laker Kobe Bryant in the all-time All-Star appearance list. It will also be LeBron’s sixth consecutive year as an All-Star captain as he won the most votes in the Western Conference yet again, and will be facing off against the East’s Giannis Antetokounmpo for the third time.
It serves as poetic justice that James has now matched Abdul-Jabbar for All-Star appearances given that he is also chasing the legend down for the all-time scoring record. If everything goes to plan, James will have the record a few weeks before everyone heads to Salt Lake City.
