LeBron James and Lionel Messi will undoubtedly go down in the history as the two of the greatest ever male athletes ever seen by modern-day fans. While the former has been the face of the sport of basketball for 20 years, Messi has just gone onto clinch his first-ever World Cup trophy, after beating France on penalties, in Qatar.

With the right time and right occasion in sight, the 4-time NBA Champion went onto deem Lionel Messi as the GOAT after he led his national side in a dramatic final against the defending champions (France) in the ‘best ever’ FIFA World Cup Final.

In a game where Lionel Messi himself scored 2 goals in a thrilling 6-goal feast; King James was quick to make his feeling public. Take a look at his tweet below.

LeBron James deems Lionel Messi as the Greatest Ever

After scoring a stellar-tally of 7 goals in a single edition of a World Cup, Messi took his all-time tally to 13. Furthermore, he not won the Golden Ball but also became the first ever player to win the same accolade twice in his professional career.

Safe to say LeBron James knows greatness as soon as he sees it, and that is just why he was quick to label Messi with the same tag. The more important question now remains – whether the iconic No. 10 has officially ended the GOAT debate with Cristiano Ronaldo. Given that Messi surely has a lot left in the tank, can we witness him feature in yet another World Cup? Who knows, but he surely ain’t giving up on his dream to represent his country further.

For LeBron James, the 37-year-old has plenty still to prove in the 2022-23 season. Now with Anthony Davis out for a month due to his foot injury. Will we witness the legend of King James growing? Remains to be seen.
