LeBron James took to social media to post a touching tribute to late rapper Coolio after the rap legend passed away recently.
LeBron James is widely known as one of the best players in the game right now, as well as one of the greatest players to ever step on a basketball court. While on the court, LeBron is known for his incredible dunking ability, his all round game and his physical ability that makes him so good even at 37, he is known for his affinity towards cars and hip hop off the court.
It is especially the latter that LeBron is widely known for off the court, as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar never misses a chance to endorse a new album from his favourite rappers. So when the news of rap legend Coolio passing away in his friend’s apartment at 59 surfaced, LeBron would come up with a tribute–and he eventually did.
The news of Coolio’s death was released by his manager, who told celebrity website TMZ that Coolio was found unresponsive in his friend’s apartment on Wednesday afternoon. The news of the untimely demise shocked the hip hop community, and the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron took to his social media to post a touching tribute to the Los Angeles born rapper.
LeBron took to his Instagram account to post a couple of all black stories, featuring his words of tribute. While in the first story, LeBron posted a series of doves alongside Coolio’s name, he wrote: “Exactly where he is now! GANGSTA’S PARADISE!” as a nod to the late rapper’s 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” – a Grammy winning song which can be termed as his greatest hit.
Coolio is widely known as one of the most influential rappers of the 1990s.
The Pennsylvania born rapper is most known for his ‘90s hits such as It Takes a Thief, My Soul and Gangsta’s Paradise – especially the latter which pushed the rapper to mainstream stardom. In fact, the titular song in the album was a Grammy winning smash hit which is still in the charts almost three decades on from its release in 1995.
His demise will prove to be an important loss for the hip hop community which loses yet another flagbearer in 2022.
