LA Lakers stars including LeBron James have admitted to struggles after a disappointing loss to TrailBlazers on Wednesday night
LeBron James has admitted that the team is failing to find their feet this season after another embarrassing loss to the Blazers in Portland on Wednesday.
Lakers were beaten 105-107 after leading for most of the game and are now 9th in the Western Conference. With the trade deadline almost here, there are rumours of a move for a few of the players on the roster. Russell Westbrook and Talen Horton Tucker are some of the names linked to be leaving the team.
However, the Lakers have been dependent on LeBron James (at 37) to bail them out in many games. The 4-time NBA Champion is facing a rough spell with the Lakers and is hoping for an upturn in form. Talking about the potential moves before the deadline, he said: (h/t SI)
“Obviously this is something that’s weighing on this group that we’re all trying to get through. Almost feels like it’s a fog, just fog in the air. And we’re all trying to see what’s on the other side of it.”
Lakers are now 26-30 with less than 30 games to go. With Anthony Davis also far from his best and other bench players not performing to the desired level, the team looks far from qualifying for the NBA Playoffs.
Coach Frank Vogel has been criticised this season for his decision making. The decision to bench Westbrook in the final quarter on two occasions has started a war of words. Vogel, who coached the Lakers to the 2020 crown is struggling to find the right balance.
With LeBron James missing, the team has barely managed to win a game this season. Stars like Carmelo Anthony and Austin Reaves have been minor glimmers of hope to the fans. The team needs some serious regrouping and change in tactics.
Westbrook showed his displeasure at not being able to play the final minutes of the game. He seemed visibly annoyed at not getting a chance to stake a claim in the team’s comeback. All issues are hopefully sorted ahead of the final end of games in the season.
