After a 1-1 draw against Wales in their first game followed by a hard-fought goalless draw against a stacked England side in their second game, the United States of America went up against a strong Iran side looking for a win to help them qualify into the knockout stage. And a goal from Chelsea star Christian Pulisic did help the USMNT register a 1-0 win to progress.

The Chelsea star scored from close range towards the end of the first half to give the USMNT a much-needed lead, and they held it out until the final whistle to qualify from second place in their group alongside England. Naturally, the final whistle meant that Pulisic was trending courtesy of his winner – along with his famous nickname of the “LeBron James of soccer”.
