LeBron James overtook Karl Malone to become the all-time leader in the list for most 20+ point games in NBA history during the LA Lakers’ defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Los Angeles Lakers succumbed to their fifth consecutive defeat of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 111-102 loss to the Wolves at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday night meant that the Lakers had started the season with a 0-5 streak, a streak that makes it the Lakers’ worst-ever start to any NBA season in their long, storied history.
However, even though the Lakers are having a disastrous season to say the very least, their talisman LeBron James keeps breaking records with every passing game. The four-time NBA champion and four-time MVP has added yet another record to his ever-expanding list with his most recent performance for the Lakers in Friday night’s loss to the Timberwolves.
Even though LeBron ended on the losing side, he racked up 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and topped the scoring charts for the Lakers. Although it was not enough to win the game for the Lakers, it was certainly enough for LeBron to be placed amongst another list of all-time greats – this time at the number one spot after displacing NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone.
It turns out that with his 20+ point performance against the Wolves, LeBron overtook Malone in the list for most 20+ point performances in the history of the NBA.
With his 28-point performance against the Timberwolves, LeBron overtook Karl Malone’s record of most 20-point games in the history of NBA. With his eighth field goal of the game against Minnesota Timberwolves, James recorded his 1,135th career 20-point game–that ranks him above the legendary Karl Malone in the all-time list for most 20-point games in the NBA.
This will certainly not be the last record LeBron breaks this season, as the NBA legend is well on course to beat Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all time scoring record in the NBA – a feat that will cement his legacy as one of the best players to ever step on a basketball court.
