It all started with officers stopping Nichols at an intersection and pushing him to the ground. As officers wrestled with him, Nichols could be heard saying, “I didn’t do anything.” The Memphis Police Department initially said that Nichols had been stopped on suspicion of reckless driving, however the police chief later confirmed that there was no concrete reason to stop Nichols.

Several officers pinned Nichols on the ground and used a stun gun on him, and when Nichols managed to break free and flee – the officers caught up with him and beat him repeatedly for three minutes. Nichols was admitted to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries three days later, and the incident has since plunged America into the lows of yet another police assault.

While many reputed personalities have since spoken up about it, NBA legend LeBron James became the latest to react to the incident.
