LeBron James reacted to the horrific death of Tyre Nichols after a brutal police assault costed his life.
Police brutality in the United States of America reached another plunging low after Tyre Nichols was killed courtesy of a police assault in Memphis earlier this month. While Nichols succumbed to his injuries three days later, the video footage of the incident recently surfaced – and showed the extent of the pathetic police brutality still at large in the United States of America till date.
It all started with officers stopping Nichols at an intersection and pushing him to the ground. As officers wrestled with him, Nichols could be heard saying, “I didn’t do anything.” The Memphis Police Department initially said that Nichols had been stopped on suspicion of reckless driving, however the police chief later confirmed that there was no concrete reason to stop Nichols.
Several officers pinned Nichols on the ground and used a stun gun on him, and when Nichols managed to break free and flee – the officers caught up with him and beat him repeatedly for three minutes. Nichols was admitted to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries three days later, and the incident has since plunged America into the lows of yet another police assault.
While many reputed personalities have since spoken up about it, NBA legend LeBron James became the latest to react to the incident.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar took to his Twitter account to condemn the act.
Replying to a tweet that said that the United States of America have “failed to fully understand race and its construction as a systemic tool” and “the entire system of policing sees the black body as a problem”, LeBron agreed as he wrote “Too factual.” James also reacted to the incident as he wrote: “WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY”, referring to the Tyre Nichols incident.
It ended up as yet another heart-breaking incident to add to the ever-expanding list of police brutality in America.
