NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN has claimed that LeBron James’ recent scoring spree for the Los Angeles Lakers has been a bit of a surprise to everyone.
LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers started the 20th season of his decorated NBA career this season, but much to the disappointment of the Lakers faithful – the NBA legend was not in the best of form as both he and the Lakers got off to a very underwhelming start. Naturally, James faced plenty of backlash for his bad streak of form even despite his ripe age of 38.
The LeBron James machine was bound to slow up soon, and it seemed like the King’s era was finally approaching a close in the 20th season of his legendary career. However, both James, as well as the Lakers, have turned it around with time – and it seems like the James machine is fit enough to run for another season, courtesy of his incredible form in the recent few games.
While LeBron was especially criticized for his inability to convert his three-point attempts as well as his shooting form in general in the early months of the season, the legendary guard has turned his fortunes around when it comes to shooting field goals. In the last ten games, LeBron has racked up 352 points – which amounts to quote a large chunk of his total season tally.
Not many people saw this sudden upturn in shooting form from the legend, according to NBA Insider Shams Charania.
The NBA Insider provided his two cents on LeBron’s recent upturn in his shooting form in the recent few games.
The ESPN journalist spoke about his thoughts on LeBron inching closer to the all time points record held by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron recently became only the 31 player to reach 38,000 points in the NBA, and now trails the great Abdul-Jabbar by only 315 points.
According to Charania, nobody expected that LeBron would close in on the record so soon. Charania said: “I don’t know if everyone expected it would be this soon… it seems like it’s only within the next 10 games or so at the pace he’s at now.” Indeed, if LeBron keeps up with his average of 29 points a game this season, he will break the record in and around ten games.
