LeBron James’ wife, sons and daughter were all in attendance as the Los Angeles Lakers met the Oklahoma City Thunder, in order to see James charge towards NBA history.
LeBron James is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever step foot on a basketball court. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is currently in his 20th season in the NBA and boasts a career that any rookie would dream to have, having won four NBA Championships, four regular season MVPs and having shattered a number of records along the way to where he is right now.
It was last season when LeBron became the only player in NBA history to rack up 10,000 points, rebounds and assists – and currently, in his 20th season, LeBron is in the top ten in both all-time charts for points and assists. While he is fourth on the all-time assists tally, he had his eyes firmly set on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record of most points scored in NBA history.
So when the Oklahoma City Thunder travelled to the Crypto.com Arena to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, all eyes were on LeBron James – who started the game only 36 points off Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s tally. It was in the final seconds of the third quarter when LeBron hit the Thunder with a fadeaway jumper for two points, and became the highest scorer in NBA history.
LeBron’s legendary moment where he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record to cement his legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it was also seen by his wife Savannah, his sons Bronny and Bryce and his daughter Zhuri who were all in attendance to watch the moment unfold. However, there was another important face in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena.
Who else was in attendance besides wife, and children at the Crypto.com Arena to watch LeBron James break the all-time points record?
As it turns out, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was himself at the Crypto.com Arena to watch LeBron take an attempt at breaking his record.
It was a whole nine months before LeBron was born when Abdul-Jabbar set the all-time points record, but 38 years later – Abdul-Jabbar found himself in attendance to watch James break it. The legendary Laker who reportedly does not share the best of relationships with LeBron was in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena, and stood to his feet during the special moment.
LeBron ended up scoring 38 points against the Thunder on Tuesday night, however, it was not enough to save the Lakers from yet another defeat.
