Luka Doncic was left starstruck and speechless after he met Michael Jordan for the first time.
Meeting your heroes often leaves even the biggest of superstars starstruck. When one meets the person who they idolized in their childhood, it is often hard to get even a word out of mouth – and that is exactly what happened with Luka Doncic when he met his childhood idol Michael Jordan for the first time, as Doncic described the story of the interaction by himself.
Luka Doncic is quite the basketball superstar himself. The 25-year-old Slovenian who plays for the Dallas Mavericks is a three time NBA All Star and a three times All NBA Teamer, and is his team’s franchise player – but even Doncic was star-struck when he met his childhood idol for the first time in none other than one of the greatest players of all time in Michael Jordan.
Doncic grew up idolizing one of the greatest to ever play the game of basketball in the Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Jordan is as intimidating off the court as he was on it in his prime, so naturally going up to Jordan to greet him can be a nerve wrecking experience—and it proved to be exactly so as Doncic spoke about meeting his idol for the very first time.
Doncic described a vivid account of his meeting with Jordan for the first time.
Doncic was recently speaking on NBA Today, and he reminisced about meeting Jordan for the first time at his first All-Star game. Doncic already endorsed Air Jordans but meeting the face of the brand he wears at his first ever NBA All-Star game, in his second year in a new country was a whole different ball game altogether.
Doncic described the experience as a very vivid and starstruck account. “I met him at my first All-Star. I think he was doing some celebration of something, I don’t know, but I was nervous. I didn’t know what to say.”
Luka Doncic on meeting Michael Jordan“I met him at my first All-Star. I think he was doing some celebration of something, I don’t know, but I was nervous. I didn’t know what to say.”
When asked if he was able to say anything at all, Doncic said: “Yeah, I was just saying hi… then how are you, I think something like that.”
Though their first meeting was awkward to say the least, it can be fair to say that the pair have come a long way since – in fact, Jordan hugged Doncic at the latest All Star game.
