Marcus Smart seemed to have suffered a brutal blow to his injury in Boston Celtics’ most recent game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year left the showdown midway but revealed that it is nothing serious for the fans to be concerned about, approaching the mid-point of the 2022-23 NBA Season.
Smart spoke to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe and revealed that his crash with Zach Collins left his knee and leg feeling numb. Though he got his X-Ray done on his injured left knee for precautionary purposes – they were negative.
That being said, Smart will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his knee injury in the coming days but for now, he was able to walk on his league. However, it did seem like the concerned knee is giving him issues whilst normal movement.
Joe Mazzulla on Marcus Smart’s Injury
“Yeah I’m walking, but it’s a slow walk,” Smart said of his injury, as quoted by ClutchPoints. On the other hand, when coach Joe Mazzulla was inquired about his star defender’s injury, he had no update on it but indicated that the concerned player is in good spirits and willing to get back on the floor as early as possible.
“Yeah he’s doing okay. I haven’t got an update yet from the medical team but he seemed to be in great spirits,” Celtics coach Mazulla said, per NESN.
