Matt Barnes has added more fuel to the fire regarding Ime Udoka’s scandal at the Boston Celtics.
Ime Udoka has made the news for all the wrong reasons. The Boston Celtics boss was recently suspended indefinitely for a duration that will certainly see him miss the entire 2022/23 season for getting involved in a workplace cheating scandal – where the former NBA professional and Nigerian international cheated on his fiancé with a female staff member.
It was recently found out that the Celtics boss was cheating on his long-term partner and fiancé – famous Hollywood actress Nia Long most known for her role in the show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” – with an unnamed female staff member. Udoka’s affair ensured the breach of an organizational guideline and hence warranted a suspension from coaching the Celtics.
While the NBA community have supported the Celtics’ decision to suspend their head coach, certain people in the community also defended Udoka for his actions. One of them was former NBA professional and current analyst on ESPN in Matt Barnes, who initially defended Udoka – but upon learning the facts of the situation, changed his stance and opinion.
What did Barnes have to add to the Ime Udoka scandal at the Celtics?
Barnes added his two cents to the Udoka scandal at the Celtics which has been trending on social media for the last couple of days.
The analyst took to his TikTok account to post his opinion on the Celtics scandal – ending up apologizing for his previous stance where he defended Udoka, and saying that he had been informed that the Celtics scandal is way deeper and darker than it was initially deemed to be.
Barnes said: “Last night, without knowing all the facts, I spoke in Ime Udoka’s defense, but after learning the facts, I erased what I posted. The situation at Boston is deep, messy and uglier than any of us thought.”
Barnes went on to apologize for his previous statements, and also said that he prays for everyone involved in the scandal and hopes that everyone gets through this tough time.
