D’Angelo Russell is likely to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves after a poor outing in the playoffs last season.

Many reports are emerging that are saying that the Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in parting ways with their point guard D’Angelo Russell. He didn’t have a good season last year, as a result, the team is looking to move him.

Russell, 26, is beginning the last year of his contract. That is extremely significant in and of itself given that the team he plays for might release $31 million from the salary cap in front of the summer’s free-agent class, which could include other elite guards like Ja Morant, Kyrie Irving, and Fred VanVleet.

D-Lo was traded by the Warriors to the Timberwolves in exchange for Andrew Wiggins. At that time, this deal looked like a great one for Minnesota, but now it doesn’t look like it.

Andrew Wiggins has prospered in his role for the Warriors and was a crucial part of their championship run this season. On the other hand, D-Lo had a terrible outing in the playoffs for his team.

T’Wolves insider gives his views on the situation of D’Angelo Russell

Minnesota Timberwolves insider John Krawczynski, of The Athletic, recently gave his views on the whole D’Angelo Russell situation around the franchise.

He said, “Everyone on this team understands that last year was a good year but that they have to get so much better to make that next step. If D’Lo goes, if it makes the Wolves better … it’s not a thing where KAT is going to say, ‘Get me out of here.’ I think everyone wants to win right now.”

Even though the Wolves are looking to offload him, it won’t be a big surprise if he stays with the team for one more season before he becomes a free agent next year.
