Following the spread of the Yao Ming image, Muggsy Bogues provides the most creative response
The Twitter handle of the Super 70s sports has recently shared a picture of Yao Ming and Muggsy Bogues along with the caption, “One of these guys played 15 years in the NBA. The other is Yao Ming.” Muggsy Bogues also has a reaction to the picture while re-tweeting the picture, saying, “Respect the drip.”
In 2020, Muggsy Bogues had shared the same picture with Yao on his Facebook page asking his followers and fans to make a guess about the other man. The caption said, “Who’s this guy I’m standing next to? Wrong answers only.”
NBA great Muggsy Bogues is the smallest player in history, standing at just 5 feet 3 inches. Yao Ming, a former centre for the Houston Rockets, is one of the tallest at 7 feet 6 inches. Several exhibition games were played in Shanghai and Beijing as part of the NBA’s recent tour of China, which is when the picture was shot. Of course, Yao has played a significant role in the NBA’s meteoric rise to fame in China over the past ten years.
Muggsy Bogues overcame his short stature to become a legendary player in the NBA. It is quite amazing that he was able to play in the NBA for 15 years despite just being 5’3″.
But standing close to taller individuals is nothing new for Muggsy Bogues. He played with the 7’7″ Manute Bol when he first entered the NBA. They were the tallest and smallest NBA players in history at the time.
Yao Ming stands 7’6″, who is not quite as tall as Bol but is still pretty close. It is always amazing to see tall individuals placed next to people of average height to get a sense of their true height and the actual height difference.
