Know more about the NBA All-Star 2023 players, including the Conference captains, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo
The current NBA season is halfway over and the most awaited event of the league is almost here. Yes, the 2023 NBA All-Star Game is almost here.
With the All-Star game just around the corner, it is time to name the starters from the respective Eastern and Western Conferences. Recently, the starters from the conferences were announced and let us know more about them.
The starters were decided by a vote divided amongst fans (50 percent), media (25 percent), and players (25).
The starters consist of two guards and three front-court players coming from each conference. Here are the following 10 players who have been selected as this year’s starters.
Player | Position | Conference |
LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers | Forward | West |
Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans | Forward | West |
Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets | Center | West |
Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks | Guard | West |
Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors | Guard | West |
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks | Forward | East |
Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics | Forward | East |
Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets | Forward | East |
Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets | Guard | East |
Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers | Guard | East |
Notably, teams are not divided by conferences anymore. Also, if a player is selected from a particular conference, it doesn’t mean that he will play from that conference exclusively. For the sixth consecutive year, the leading vote-getter in each conference will draft their own teams.
Interestingly, for the sixth consecutive year, Lebron James will be captaining one of the two All-Star teams. Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is LBJ’s counterpart and he is the game’s second captain. Also, Giannis will be the All-Star captain for the third time.
After the starters, the All-Star reserves will be announced on February 2. Furthermore, there is a new twist in the team selection.
Unlike recent years, the All-Star Game Draft will be held right before the game itself on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
