Here are more details about the NBA All-Star 2023 voting. Know who is leading the race in their respective Conferences.
The voting for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game is heating up. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is currently leading all players in the latest fan vote update for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. Check the latest list down below.
As for the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo surpassed Kevin Durant for the most votes and currently stands number one on the list.
Notably, two-time NBA champion Durant was previously ranked first in the second voting results released last week.
Furthermore, as per the rules, the NBA player with the most votes in each conference will be the captain for the All-Star game. The captain will also get to select the team for the upcoming February 19 All-Star game.
Meanwhile, the fan voting ends on Saturday and subsequently, the full list of starters will be revealed on Saturday, that is, January 26. Then, the final roster will be decided by fan vote (50 percent), player vote (25 percent), and media vote (25 percent).
The voting stands very close and the last frontcourt spot in both conferences and other close contests may be decided in the final few days of voting.
Despite being sidelined since mid-December due to a foot ailment, LA Lakers big man, Anthony Davis retains the third spot in the West behind LeBron James and Nikola Jokic. Although the young star of the New Orleans Pelicans is also sidelined with a hamstring injury, Zion Williamson had been catching up to Davis in the most recent fan voting.
On the other hand, the final frontcourt place in the East is being contested by a pair of MVP contenders, with Jayson Tatum just having a slight advantage over Joel Embiid (around 200,000).
Celtics star, Tatum is currently averaging 31.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Eastern Conference first-placed Boston Celtics, while Embiid’s 33.6 points per game rank second in the league behind only Luka Dončić (33.7).
In the Western Conference, Doncic and Stephen Curry easily lead Ja Morant for the starting backcourt spots, while Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell take the top spots in the Eastern Conference. In each of these contests, the media and player vote could still have a major impact.
Several fan favorites, like Austin Reaves, Derrick Rose, and Kevon Looney, are still in the top 10 of their respective races despite having slim chances of appearing in the real All-Star Game.
