NBA Champion believes Lakers season could be over after LeBron James groin injury – ‘They are 10 games away from season being over’

NBA champion Richard Jefferson has claimed that the Los Angeles Lakers’ season could be over after LeBron James suffered a groin injury in their latest defeat.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ season keeps going from bad to worse. After beginning their season with five consecutive defeats, the Lakers thought they had turned a corner after two consecutive wins – however, they were dragged back to their harsh reality with four straight defeats. The latest one against the Los Angeles Clippers meant that the Lakers now have a 2-9 record.

LeBron James

While losing their fourth straight game dealt a huge blow to the Lakers’ team morale, it went even worse when LeBron James had to leave the court with a groin injury in the fourth quarter. The Lakers talisman and NBA legend who missed their last game against Utah Jazz with left foot soreness, had a 30-point game on his return – but had to go off the court having injured himself.

At the age of 37 having enjoyed an incredible career spanning over two decades that has seen him play the most minutes by any NBA player, LeBron’s body is bound to decline at some point or the other. Richard Jefferson pointed the same out in the latest episode of ESPN’s NBA Today, and went on to say that the Lakers’ season could well be over after James’ latest groin injury.

What did Jefferson have to say about the Lakers’ season in light of LeBron James’ groin injury?

The former NBA professional and current analyst said that the Lakers season could well be over after James injured his groin against the Clippers.

Speaking on the latest episode of ESPN’s NBA Today talk show, Jefferson spoke about how the Lakers cannot afford to manage LeBron’s minutes because of their lack of depth. Jefferson said that keeping LeBron’s career in mind, the Lakers should be able to manage his load by now – however, their inability to do so prompted Jefferson to say that the Lakers’ season could be over.

The NBA analyst said: “They probably got about 10 games to go before their season is over. And I say this respectfully, because they are gonna be so down in a hole – to get out of that hole with the teams they’re playing is gonna be tough.”
