NBA commentator Rob Parker has made a huge statement regarding LeBron James’ legacy, claiming that he does not think LeBron is amongst the top 10 Lakers of all time.
LeBron James is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever step on a basketball court. The four-time champion and four-time MVP will certainly go down with a place in the NBA history books, but even despite enjoying an incredible career – the NBA legend also has a lot of detractors of his own who will gladly volunteer to debate his status in the NBA record books.
It can be attributed as the reason why despite winning the Championship four times, LeBron’s 4-6 Finals record is often brought up. In fact, his status as a Lakers legend is often put under question despite winning them their record-equaling 17th Championship in 2020 – as the Lakers have also seen plenty of disappointments in the period where LeBron has been with the Lakers.
Therefore, his status as a Lakers legend – playing for a franchise that has hosted some of the best players of all time – is often put under question. NBA commentator Rob Parker became the latest to question LeBron’s Lakers status as he claimed that LeBron is not a top 10 Laker of all time.
What did Rob Parker have to say about LeBron James not being a top 10 Laker of all time?
The NBA commentator explained his reasoning behind not putting James in his top 10 Lakers players of all time.
“Let me say this: I don’t believe LeBron’s a top 10 Laker,” he said. “They did win a championship, but he’s also not made the playoffs in three of the four years that he’s been here in Los Angeles. And I’m not trying to take the championship away, but if you’re a Laker fan out there, nobody thinks that was some special championship.”
“They’ve missed the playoffs three out of four years with LeBron, shocking,’ he said. ‘LeBron has had more bad than good as a Laker. It’s been more turmoil and more losing. I think LeBron’s had more bad than good, and this plays more so than his other two stops. I can sing his praises in the other two. And I don’t think he’s a top 10 Laker of all time, not one iota.”
