NBA fans have slated Ja Morant’s shot being named as the best play of the 2021/22 season, accusing the NBA intentionally promote the Memphis Grizzlies star for “revenue purposes”.
Ja Morant is one of the best young players in the league, and had a very commendable season for the Memphis Grizzlies last season. Morant led the Grizzlies to 1st place in the Southwest division and 2nd place in the Western Conference, only losing in the semifinals to the Golden State Warriors. Morant impressed individually too, and a particular play of his was lauded the most.
Morant’s shot has been named as the best play of the 2021/22 NBA season. The play came in a game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the San Antonio Spurs, and it was right at the end of the second quarter when Steven Adams threw a dime that covered the full length of the court and was received by Morant, who converted with a circus shot right at the stroke of the buzzer.
The passage of play was named the best that the NBA saw in the 2021/22 season, and although some fans were happy with such a play against the flow of time being named as the best of the season – some fans showed their visible resentment towards the decision, to the extent that they blamed the NBA for being biased towards the Grizzlies superstar only for revenue purposes.
It would be fair to say that the fans did not agree with the decision to name Morant’s shot as the best play of the season.
Fans accused the NBA of looking over other players who made a similar kind of a play but were not lauded for it. While one fan said; “bro didn’t the pelicans throw a full-court heave to win the game? Ur saying this beats it”, another replied: “They have to make it appear like Ja is the next big thing to the casual viewer for revenue purposes.”
Regardless of whether it is for revenue purposes or not, one has to admit that the full court dime from Adams and the circus shot from Morant is an incredible play to watch.
