Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers to their fourth win of the season with a big performance against the Detroit Pistons.
The dominant effort that the Los Angeles Lakers put on display against the Detroit Pistons, which culminated in the Lakers picking up their fourth win of the year, helped the Lakers improve their overall record to 4-10 on the season. Due to the fact that he is still healing from his injury, LeBron James was unable to make a contribution to the game that the Lakers were playing because he was still sidelined.
Anthony Davis, similar to how he performed in the previous game against the Brooklyn Nets, showed up to play and put out a solid effort. In addition to scoring 38 points, he also grabbed 16 rebounds and handed out two assists in the game. Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker IV continued their outstanding play from the previous game.
Moreover, Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant made their first appearances of the season against the Pistons. Lonnie Walker IV and Austin Reaves each scored in double figures.
Russell Westbrook did not have a great night shooting the ball, but he contributed with 12 assists, and he has been essential for this team ever since he came off the bench. Even though he did not have a great day shooting the ball, he still contributed.
After the game, Speaking about Anthony Davis, Lonnie Walker IV said, “He’s the best player in the league. It’s all about bringing it night in, night out.” Lonnie Walker has been an exciting addition to this Lakers team, and so far he has been playing really well.
So far this season, Lonnie Walker IV has averaged 16.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 12 games. On the other hand, Anthony Davis has averaged 25.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 13 games this season.
Darvin Ham also lauded Anthony Davis’ efforts against the Pistons
Head coach Darvin Ham also praised Anthony Davis after the game, and said, “He’s been a force for us all year and tonight was no different.” He also stated that it’s “extremely important” for AD to continue to be this aggressive when LeBron gets back.
The Lakers could improve their record massively as they have a rather easier run of fixtures in the coming games. They have a great opportunity to bring their season back on track but Anthony Davis will be required to keep this level going forward.
When the Los Angeles Lakers take on the San Antonio Spurs in their next game on Sunday night, it is believed that LeBron James will make his return from the abdominal injury he incurred while playing against the Clippers.
Due to the fact that Anthony Davis is a unique talent and this is his team, it is imperative that they maintain this level of play on a consistent basis. If AD continues to play at the level he has over the past few games, then the addition of LeBron James should propel this Lakers club to an even higher level.
Even LeBron James is aware of the fact that without Anthony Davis, this franchise would not be able to live up to the standards that have been set for it. Darvin Ham is also aware of the same thing, as he had praised his star player a couple of days ago after their win over the Brooklyn Nets.
