An NBA Insider has revealed the six conditions being laid out for Kyrie Irving to return to playing for the Brooklyn Nets following the news of his five game suspension without pay.
Kyrie Irving has been in the middle of a lot of controversy of late. The Brooklyn Nets superstar recently endorsed a film portraying anti-Semitic sentiments, and courtesy of his hesitation to condemn his actions – ended up being suspended by the Nets for five games without pay.
It was only last week that Irving posted a promotional tweet endorsing the film “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America” – a 2018 film based on a 2015 book of the same name that is known to heavily promote anti-Semitic tropes and ideologies. While the tweet went viral in no time, the Nets and the franchise owner Joe Tsai condemned Irving in their statements.
Despite their statements, Irving chose not to address his own actions and upon no strong denial of his anti-Semitic beliefs despite being asked by the media multiple times – the Nets finally suspended Irving for five games without pay. However, it now turns out that the Nets have issued six conditions that Irving would need to observe if he wants to return to the floor.
What are the six conditions imposed on Kyrie Irving for his Nets’ return?
NBA Insider Shams Charania has revealed the six conditions imposed on Kyrie if he wants to make his return to playing for the Nets early.
Charania took to his Twitter to reveal the conditions imposed on Kyrie. While firstly Irving has to apologize for his actions and condemn the film, he also has to donate $500,000 to causes and organizations that curb racial hatred. Irving also has to go through sensitivity and anti-Semitic training, while he also needs to meet with the Anti-Defamation League and Jewish leaders.
Lastly, upon fulfillment of the aforementioned conditions, Kyrie has to meet owner Joe Tsai to show his understanding. Irving will have to observe all the conditions imposed on him if he wants to get back playing for the Nets, and the Nets would love to have his services back.
