Let us know more about the upcoming New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors match, its prediction, injury report, preview, etc.
The Golden State Warriors will be visiting the infamous Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (December 14th, 2021) to face off against the New York Knicks.
This game is of utmost importance for the NBA superstar Stephen Curry, as the two-time MVP will look forward to capturing the all-time record of three points made in NBA history.
During the last matchup against the Indiana Pacers, Stephen Curry scored 26 points on 20 shots. Notably, Curry struggled from the 3-point line as he hit just 5 three-pointers from his 15 three-point attempts.
Nevertheless, Curry is now within one shot of equaling Ray Allen’s all-time three-point record.
All said and done, the premise of Madison Square Garden is a perfect place for Curry to create history once more. Though Allen’s record stands for another day, Curry is sure to break it while playing against the New York Knicks.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks are struggling to find their winning ways. The Knicks now have lost three games back-to-back in a row, thus having lost six of their last seven games.
Since the beginning of the season, the Knicks were struggling with their defense and now it seems that the Knicks’ defense has completely vanished. So much so, that the defense was almost nowhere to be seen in their last ten games.
Also, the New York Knicks are missing their major key players. The Knicks still cannot avail of the services of Obi Toppin and RJ Barrett due to the COVID-19 protocols.
However, the Warriors are bound to face stiff competition tomorrow. The Knicks are desperate for a win and on the other hand, the Warriors look forward to a big margin win so that Stephen Curry’s record-breaking night goes sweeter.
Fixture: Golden State Warriors vs New York Knicks | 2021-22 NBA season.
Date & Time: Tuesday, December 14th; 7:30 PM ET (Wednesday, December 15th; 6:00 AM IST).
Venue: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY.
Needless to say, it’s a big night for the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry. From head coach Steve Kerr to hardcore Warriors fans, everyone wants Curry to break Ray Allen’s record. Curry has been on the edge of breaking the record since the December 8, 2021 game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Warriors are in a comfortable position in the league, having a record of (22-5) and being the first seed in the Western Conference. Nevertheless, sometimes GSW’s usual precision and rhythm have been somewhat affected by unnecessary plays. This resulted in Curry hoisting up contested threes. Once Curry breaks the three-point record, it will be a relief for the Warriors and they can resume with their usual rhythm.
The Warriors also had some unusual losses against the San Antonio Spurs, and Philadelphia 76ers. Moreover, GSW’s last win against the Pacers was not so convincing. At this point, the Warriors can’t afford to lose momentum. If GSW starts to lack now, it will cost their NBA championship run.
Fortunately, the defense of the Golden State Warriors has been rock-solid and the defense has successfully covered up the Warriors’ recent offensive faults in the last few games.
So, the Warriors will want to end Steph Curry’s historic night with another major win.
G – Steph Curry | G – Jordan Poole | F – Andrew Wiggins | F – Draymond Green | C – Kevon Looney.
The Golden State Warriors injury list remains the same as they will miss James Wiseman and Klay Thompson. Both Klay and Wiseman are assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors to prepare them for their smooth comeback.
Player Name | Status | Reason |
Klay Thompson | Out | Achilles injury recovery |
James Wiseman | Out | Knee injury recovery |
Things are just not looking good for the New York Knicks. Knicks coach, Tom Thibodeau removed starting point guard Kemba Walker from the New York Knicks’ rotation because Thibodeau just could not play him.
Interestingly, the Knicks have gone (1-6) since Walker’s absence. The New York Knicks now have a record of (12-15) and they are the twelfth seed in the Eastern Conference.
To make things worse, the Knicks will not have the services of Obi Toppin and RJ Barrett, as they are currently sidelined under the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
The major problem of the New York Knicks is their weak defense. Even with a healthy lineup, the Knicks have failed to put on a decent defensive effort. Moreover, they are currently ranked 25th in defensive rating. In their last ten games, their 115.6 DRTG is at the bottom of the league, which is worse than the Charlotte Hornets’ 113.1.
G – Derrick Rose | G – Evan Fournier | F – Quentin Grimes | F – Julius Randle | C – Nerlens Noel.
The New York Knicks will not have RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin in this game due to Health and Safety Protocols. Luka Samanic is also out of the game due to NBA G-League responsibilities.
Player Name | Status | Reason |
RJ Barrett | Out | COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocol |
Obi Toppin | Out | COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocol |
Luka Samanic | Out | NBA G – League |
With their superb defense and enough offensive power, the Warriors are expected to defeat the New York Knicks easily. On the flip side, the New York Knicks are hungry for a win. Moreover, they have the opportunity to stop Stephen Curry from creating history, this will be surely an added motivation.
However, to win the match, the Knicks have to put on a miraculous performance. At the end of the day, the Warriors are expected to win and Stephen Curry is expected to create history by breaking Ray Allen’s all-time three-point record.
