Devin Funchess, an NFL player, is prepared to try his luck in the NBA
Former Carolina Panthers standout Devin Funchess stated his desire to play in the NBA in a conversation with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports.
After an outstanding collegiate career for the Michigan Wolverines, Devin Funchess was selected by the Carolina Panthers as the 41st overall choice in the 2015 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old played four seasons for the Panthers and briefly played for the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, and Indianapolis Colts.
Currently a free agent in the NFL, he recently spoke to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports and shared his passion for basketball. “I know I have to go overseas and play and get some film, but then after that, my dream growing up was to play in the NBA, so that’s my main goal, and that’s what I’m gonna make happen.”
Robinson and Funchess discussed how he is still attracting interest from NFL teams, indicating that his playing days are still ahead of him. He did, however, mention how much he loved basketball, so it will be intriguing to see whether he can ever realise his ambition.
In 2017, when he participated in all 16 games, he had his greatest season in the NFL with 63 catches, 840 yards, and eight touchdowns. He had the most receiving yards and touchdowns for the Panthers.
They also finished 11-5 and advanced to the NFL Playoffs. Funchess last participated in a regular-season NFL game on September 8, 2019, against the Indianapolis Colts. He played a lot of basketball at one time in his life and is undoubtedly gifted. For sure, Devin Funchess would have participated in big college basketball if he had been 6-foot-8, and there is a significant probability that he would have been granted the opportunity to pursue an NBA career.
