While many might only be aware that Brooklyn Nets might’ve been on a 12-game winning streak which was brought to an end by Chicago Bulls on Wednesday Night. But the larger picture indicates that this team has won 19 of its previous 23 games to finally contest for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
On one hand, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant might have secured a majority of the headlines but there is no denying that Nic Claxton has played a huge role in it. After sustaining a lackluster 5-9 start to open the 2022-23 NBA Season, fans have finally acknowledged the contribution of Claxton on a larger scale for the Nets.
Let us state the basic facts for all these players first – Kevin Durant is having among the best seasons of his career, averaging 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while missing only one game. Next, Kyrie Irving has averaged 25.9 points on 51.5 percent shooting from the field and 40.8 percent from three over his last 20 games.
Nic Claxton gets a huge boost for the 2023 All-Star game
The 23-year-old is a defensive juggernaut for the Brooklyn Nets, and despite Ben Simmons being present on the Nets’ side, Claxton has managed to rank second in blocks per game. Furthermore, Claxton is also proving to live up to his hype of being a top perimeter-defending.
That being said, Nic Claxton, who is now in his fourth-year stint, cracked the top 10 in the East frontcourt voting for the first time in his career. Will the center be able to add more votes against his name? Remains to be seen.
