No LeBron James, No Kevin Durant: Who did Stephen Curry pick in his all-time starting five?

Following his recent selection as Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated for 2022, Stephen Curry was questioned by SI about his starting five. For that, Curry had to list himself, which isn’t really a stretch given how difficult it is to argue for anybody else to be the best point guard of all time.

Stephen Curry and LeBron James

Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Shaquille O’Neal were mentioned as Stephen Curry’s starting five in the recent Sports Illustrated interview. “I’m at PG. I’m going with Magic—we’ll play hybrid guards, You got Jordan. You got Dirk spacing the floor, shooting the ball. And you got the big man, the Diesel, holding it down. So, that’s a solid lineup, I think.” Stephen Curry said.

LeBron James was not excluded on purpose since they get along so well off the court. Skip claims that it is because of hatred and bitterness from earlier in life. Shannon dismissed this since LeBron is anxious to play alongside Stephen Curry and the two have appeared together in previous All-Star games. Curry favored creating a squad with better spacing when it came to the Stephen Curry’s starting five.

Four rings were won by Stephen in eight years. He has received many ESPY awards for NBA player of the year, Sports Illustrated athlete of the year, an All-Time record for three-pointers, and two NBA MVP awards. Curry has earned the MVP awards for the Bill Russell Finals, the inaugural Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP, and the All-Star Game MVP. He unquestionably belongs among the greats.

What did the supporters of LeBron James have to say about Stephen Curry’s starting five ?

“LeBron’s” exclusion from Stephen Curry’s starting five didn’t exactly win over many LeBron supporters or neutrals. Along with Jordan, the LA Lakers great is practically an obvious name to be in any starting five lists compiled by NBA players.

Curry would also be the one who knows the most about James’ excellence than anybody else, given their competition over the previous ten years.
