Anthony Davis’ stat ties with James Harden as only Shaq and Jordan lead in that NBA stat

This NBA season feels like it’s going to be one of the most competitive seasons in a while as another week has come and gone. James Harden and Khris Middleton are back this week, while Anthony Davis’ stat are on the rise.

Anthony Davis always hurting himself, falling down, or jumping off things. Davis, though, has now had the last laugh. Over the past couple of weeks, he has been nothing short of a wrecking ball. In addition to averaging 34.2 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.9 blocks per game, he has put together 10 straight double-doubles.

He finished off this run against the Washington Wizards with a strong 55-point performance, and as a result, his MVP odds have dropped from approximately 200-1 a week ago to only 30-1 following Sunday’s game. He’s moved up to the seventh-highest Estimated Plus/Minus (EPM) in the league (+6.4) and has thrust himself into the MVP debate.

Anthony Davis’ stat speaks a lot about him

AD’s choice of shots is the major variation. Davis is attempting a career-high 55% of his shots around the basket, and with just 6% of his looks coming from beyond the arc, he has all but given up on the 3-point shot.

He now takes 25% of his attempts from the short-midrange while still taking 39% of his attempts from the long-midrange. He has also cut his long-mid frequency in half (4-14 feet). 80% of AD’s shots are being taken from within about 14 feet of the basket overall, which is a career-high percentage.
