The head coach of Purdue Bruce Pearl has his doubts over the lottery pick Chet Holmgreen from Gonzaga.
Chet Holmgreen has been termed as a generation player for a long time now. He has been touted as a lottery pick in the NBA since his high-school days. He chose to play for the Gonzaga in college and showed his skillset to people around the world.
Even though Chet is a great player, with a unique skill set at such height, people have some major doubts about him. He is a 7ft tall Power Forward/Center who weighs just 195lbs. As a result, people think he’ll have difficulties in the NBA if he doesn’t bulk up.
Purdue’s head coach Bruce Pearl also had some words for the Gonzaga star. He doesn’t believe that Chet Holmgreen will live up to his hype in the NBA. He said, “The NBA stands for No Boys Allowed. And that body scares me. It just does.”
Bruce Pearl doesn’t believe Chet Holmgreen should be among the top picks in the draft
Due to his skinny frame, Bruce Pearl believes that Holmgreen should not be among the top picks in the NBA Draft 2022. He also went on to say that Purdue’s center Walker Kessler is better than Chet Holmgreen.
Bruce Pearls said, “He goes knee-to-knee with the wrong guy, and he could get broken in half. Therefore at the very top of the draft, I think I got to go with what I know not what could potentially could maybe someday be.”
Chet Holmgreen is likely to be picked with the 2nd overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has a chance to prove many people wrong, as they all think he is not good enough for the NBA.
