Donovan Mitchell is available for trade, and it seems like the New York Knicks are in the best position to get him.
The Utah Jazz had made it clear that Donovan Mitchell was available on the market if the right offer arrived. After they traded away Rudy Gobert, Mitchell’s exit seemed likely.
The Utah Jazz are looking to rebuild after continuous failures in the playoffs. They got a boat load of picks for Rudy Gobert, and with Donovan Mitchell, they are going to get a lot more.
As of now, the New York Knicks have emerged as a strong contender to land Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell is a New York native, and this move could very well be possible for him. Many predicted that Mitchell would get to New York one day, and this might be that time.
According to Shams Charania of the Atheltic: The Jazz and Knicks have started discussions on a Donovan Mitchell trade, sources tell me and @Tjonesonthenba. New York has Utah’s focus currently, among interested teams.
The New York Knicks already brought in Jalen Brunson in the free agency. They have continuously tried to strengthen their roster. Moreover, the inclusion of Donovan Mitchell will elevate them to the next level.
It is still unknown who will Knicks include in the trade to bring in Mitchell. The only player that might be a part of this deal might be Julius Randle or other young players. With RJ Barrett, Jalen Brunson, and Donovan Mitchell this Knicks team will be quite decent. If they are able to keep Randle then that would be a great thing for them, as he is also a great player.
