When Minnesota Timberwolves acquired French sensation Rudy Gobert ahead of the start of the 2022-23 season, many expected this team to be a force. Playing alongside Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony Towns, it seemed like Gobert could fix all the defensive woes for this unit. However, the reality has been the complete opposite.
While the Timberwolves haven’t been a very aggressive unit in the 2022-23 season, some fans have questioned the inclusion of Rudy Gobert on the side. However, those claims or doubts are not true as the French International is averaging 13.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. So, it is safe to say that he is not too far off from the marks he put up with his former team (Utah Jazz).
As doubts over the Timberwolves have grown over the past few weeks, with Gobert being at the helm of it, he stated, “I don’t think we’ve seen the best Rudy yet. I’ve been putting in a lot of work. My teammates are sticking with me. The coaching staff is sticking with me. And I know that it’s going to pay off. It’s a long season.”

The 3x All-Star, 4x All-NBA player, and 6x All-Defensive player, Rudy Gobert has the repertoire to be given the benefit of the doubt, and because the team gave up so much to get him, they have no other choice but to find a way to maximize his game.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 19-21. Thought hey are currently on a 3-game winning streak, they need to have a better chemistry on the court if they are challenge for the title.
