After three rather slow seasons in the NBA, Rui Hachimura has finally picked pace to stamp his authority in the Washington Wizards team. The Japanese International has finally cemented his place after a dominant run in the 2022-23 NBA Season.
Rui is one player who has been compared to Kawhi Leonard quite often but his off-the-court antics have often overshadowed his work on the NBA hardwood. This was also a huge reason why he has been away from the league for a while. Now that he is back, it seems like the Washington Wizards aren’t giving him enough means to develop his game even further.
After being one of the hottest names in the trade rumor mill, Rui Hachimura has gone call out the Washington Wizards by sending a short yet crystal clear message to other teams of what he can bring to the table if they wish to acquire him.
Rui Hachimura calls out Washington Wizards
For those unaware, when The Athletic asked Hachimura during a news conference in a Capital One Arena hallway whether he asked the Wizards for a trade, Hachimura responded: “No comment.”
The 24-year-old stud then called out his team for putting him in a situation where he doesn’t know if they want him or not. His future appears to be up in the air and Hachimura isn’t against the idea of leaving D.C. to try his luck somewhere else.
“I just want to be somewhere that wants me as a basketball player, and I want to be somewhere that likes my game, you know?” Hachimura said Saturday night. Later, he added, “I just want to be somewhere that trusts (and) believes in me and just (where) I can be myself. That’s my goal.”
