Rui Hachimura is the latest addition to the star-studded team of the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Charles Barkley, a constant critic of the Purple and Gold, has no idea how to pronounce his name as he left everyone on NBA on TNT’s panel laughing out on the floor with his hilarious attempt.
Given that Charles Barkley always likes to discuss or at least opinionate on LA Lakers’ matters, how could he not contemplate Rui Hachimura’s trade? Adding another big man might prove to be an X-Factor for the 17-time NBA Championship-winning franchise, but Barkley seems to be unbothered and busy in his own world.
In a video that went viral all over the internet (As shown above), Charles Barkley can be seen butchering the surname of the Japanese International.

That being said, one has to also look at the other side of the event. The former MVP, Charles Barkley did say that he thought it was a “great trade” for the Lakers. He also congratulated Vice President Rob Pelinka on the coup. It sounded like Sir Charles was being serious with his praise, but then again, the way he made fun of “Hachimama’s” name makes you think twice about how genuine he really is.
Will Rui be able to showcase just how well he can perform if given an opportunity? If yes, that’ll be the ideal way to answer back to this Hall of Famer.
