Russell Westbrook motivates teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis in loss to Milwaukee Bucks
Russell Westbrook was seen motivating his teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis during their match versus the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks won 131-116 in Los Angeles, with Giannis Antetokounmpo starring with 44 points.
Westbrook, who was benched in the final quarter after a disappointing night appeared to boost the spirit of his dejected teammates. Many fans on Twitter showed their frustration and anger towards the wantaway star, while others were optimistic about a turn in form for the 33-year old.
“I told them I wished I could help them. But I wasn’t in the game to help them out, but that’s not my call,” said Westbrook in the post match press conference.” (h/t Twitter)
Westbrook scored ten points on 27.3 % shooting from the field. He played only 26.05 minutes, with a benching during the final moments of the final quarter. His form has been abysmal this season and has been ordinary in his debut season with the Lakers.
The Lakers now sit in 9th position in the Western Conference and are facing a tough task to qualify for this year’s NBA Playoffs. With a line-up filled with All-Stars, the output has been disappointing. They have failed to build a winning streak at any point in the season.
There are various rumours that Westbrook could be part of a trade involving 4 other teams. The players included in the deal could be Ben Simmons or Damian Lillard, among others. With only a day left for the deadline, the deal is looking unlikely to happen.
However, Westbrook’s days with the Lakers are certainly numbered. Lakers GM Rob Pelinka was reportedly planning to bring in Lillard this season. We will have to wait and see how the Lakers franchise handle Westbrook’s playing time and form this season.
