The San Antonio Spurs have officially qualified for the play-in tournament following a win over the Nuggets
With the loss of the Los Angeles Lakers to the Phoenix Suns, the San Antonio Spurs are officially heading into the play-in tournament, which is an excellent achievement for this young Spurs team who didn’t look like a serious threat to the 10th seed in the West.
Earlier, the Spurs defeated the Nuggets, which boosted their chances of making it to the play-in tournament, as their win made sure that the Lakers needed to win all of their remaining games to make it to the play-in tournament. It was not the case as they lost to the 1st seed in the West, the Phoenix Suns.
This win was a significant achievement for this San Antonio Spurs team because they were without their All-Star point guard Dejounte Murray who is sidelined due to illness and hasn’t played recently.
With Dejounte subjected to return before the paly-in tournament, this Spurs team can shock a few teams if they get their game together, just like they have done in their recent games.
San Antonio Spurs will face the New Orleans Pelicans in their play-in game
The San Antonio Spurs will face a tough challenge in their elimination game in the play-in tournament, facing the New Orleans Pelicans. The latter themselves are playing excellent basketball since the inclusion of CJ McCollum in their team.
McCollum was traded to the Pelicans from the Blazers. He immediately impacted the team, as he and Brandon Ingram have formed a formidable duo that can cause some severe damage to the opposing teams.
The Winner of this match will face the loser of the game between the Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves to fight for the 8th seed. In contrast, the loser will get eliminated straight away, and this match will promise to be a great spectacle between two young and exciting teams.
