“I gotta say this, it hurt to see Serena go down but I’m proud to see everything she has achieved – she is undoubtedly the GOAT.dof women’s tennis.”
If these words weren’t high praise for the optimal athlete that Serena was in all of her career, Smith’s next words would seal the deal.
What else did Smith have to say about Serena Williams’ exit?
Stephen A. Smith went on to say that even though Serena went down, she went down like only a champion can.
Smith said, “Last night, she went down swinging. That second set, was a killer. It took so much out of her – and she gave it her everything until she had nothing left.”
Smith went on to say that even though she went down eventually because her legs could not take it anymore, it was a valiant effort from her.
Smith ended his monologue by thanking Serena for her contribution to the game of tennis and to the world of sport in general.
It will not be an exaggeration to say that Serena has inspired millions of people to give everything to the cause, and she did it until her last game as she went down swinging.
