Shannon Sharpe has broken down LeBron James’ comments on not having a relationship with Los Angeles Lakers and NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
LeBron James was amongst the headlines of late after he said that he does not have a relationship with Lakers and NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. While the Lakers superstar is on course to break Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record this season, LeBron recently revealed that he does not have any relationship with Abdul-Jabbar – which led to the former catching a lot of flak.
While Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has previously been overly critical of LeBron in certain situations in the past, the NBA community ripped into the Lakers superstar for not having a relationship with one of the greatest NBA players of all time. However, NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe came to LeBron’s rescue as he said that LeBron just can not win irrespective of whatever he does.
Speaking on the latest episode of Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, Sharpe said that LeBron just can not win irrespective of what he does. The reputed NBA analyst raised an argument that LeBron will always be criticized irrespective of what he does, and there were quite a few in the NBA community who would end up agreeing with Sharpe’s perspective on the whole situation.
According to Sharpe, LeBron is overly criticized for anything he does.
Sharpe came to LeBron’s rescue by saying that even if LeBron did have a relationship with Kareem, the masses would be saying that LeBron is overly friendly and is friends with anybody – and would instead cite Michael Jordan who did not try and please anybody.
“Why does LeBron have to get along with everybody? Why does LeBron have to have a relationship with everybody? He doesn’t!” said Sharpe, who also cited the fact that Kareem famously did not have a relationship with another Lakers legend in Wilt Chamberlain – but it was never publicized and criticized like LeBron’s situation is being dealt with.
Sharpe also went on to say that the pair are their own persons, and also stated that even though LeBron has been very complimentary of Kareem – the latter has overly criticized the former in the past. And so he does not feel that LeBron has to have a relationship with him, or vice versa.
