“He got a tape on somebody like Golden State got on Draymond” – Shannon Sharpe cannot believe how Lakers GM Rob Pelinka got a contract extension

Shannon Sharpe went in on the Los Angeles Lakers’ poor start to the season as he exclaimed his disbelief about how Lakers GM Rob Pelinka got a contract extension.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a disastrous start to life this season so far. The storied franchise failed to qualify for the Playoffs last season and got quite a few reinforcements in a transitional off season in order to turn their fortunes around, however they got off to the worst start in their history after losing all of their first four Western Conference games this season.

After losing to the defending champions Golden State Warriors on Ring Night, the Lakers succumbed to three more losses to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets to boast an unenviable 0-4 record. What seemed like a transitional off-season to help get them back on the right back has completely backfired, one big decision in particular.

The Lakers extended the contract of General Manager Rob Pelinka this offseason, Pelinka, the Lakers’ vice president of basketball operations and general manager, signed a contract extension in the offseason that will take him through the 2025-26 season – however, things have not gone particularly according to plan for Pelinka and the Lakers according to Shannon Sharpe.

What did Shannon Sharpe have to say about Rob Pelinka and the Lakers?

The NBA analyst exclaimed his disbelief at why the Lakers extended Pelinka’s contract.

Speaking on the latest episode of the talk show Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, the NBA analyst asked why did the Lakers extend the General Manager’s contract. On a segment about the misfiring Lakers, a bewildered Sharpe commented that Pelinka must have “a tape on somebody like Golden State got on Draymond” and said that he has no idea why Pelinka was extended.
