While we were not over Luka Doncic’s magnificent 60-point triple-double against the New York Knicks, Giannis Antetokounmpo produced another individual masterpiece by knocking 45 points, 7 assists and 22 rebounds against the resilient and unpredictable Chicago Bulls.
While Giannis scoring game-high tally, DeRozan wasn’t far behind for him as he dropped 42 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead his team for an epic comeback victory against one of the best teams of the 2022-23 season – Milwaukee Bucks. However, with the contest being as thrilling as possible, NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe revealed why he would still pick Giannis Antetokounmpo over Luka Doncic.
Shannon Sharpe wrote in his tweet, “Giannis (Antetokounmpo) has a 40-20-5 gm with 3 mins left in the 4th. We can debate who’s in the top 5, but #1 isn’t a debate anymore. It’s Giannis.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo deemed No. 1 by Shannon Sharpe
While Luka Doncic has led his team 3 wins over .500 now after his 60-point triple-double, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still the leading MVP candidate. Safe to say, the Greek Freak has been tough for every opponent he has stepped out against.
Giannis’ goal most every time he touches the ball is to aggressively head to the basket, create as much contact as he can, and dare defenders to stand their ground to draw an offensive foul. Although one might point his 3-point shooting as his offensive void, yet his numbers speak otherwise.
On one hand, where Luka Doncic is a highly dynamic and versatile scorer. Giannis is known to score him way by using sheer strength, and it does look like Sharpe thinks of the latter and his style of play to be much more reliable.
