Shannon Sharpe has been left astounded by Joel Embiid’s latest foot injury, adding to a long list of the Philadelphia 76ers’ injuries this season.
The Philadelphia 76ers have had a strong start to the season when considering all circumstances. The Sixers defeated the Brooklyn Nets by a 115-106 margin at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night, and recorded their ninth win of the season to currently sit in seventh place on the Eastern Conference rankings with a 9-8 record – despite all of their injury troubles this season.
The 76ers have not been able to field a full five of regular starters since the beginning of the season, as the franchise have suffered injuries to their key players throughout the season. While James Harden re-injured himself with a right foot tendon strain earlier this month, Tyrese Maxey finds himself out with a fractured foot while Joel Embiid became the latest on the list.
Embiid has easily been the Sixers’ best player this season, and has single-handedly inspired the Sixers to win on his day. The Cameroonian-French center has carried on from where he left off last season as the NBA’s top scorer, averaging the highest in every stat for the Sixers – hence it was a huge miss when Embiid was ruled out for the Sixers’ next two games with a foot injury.
Embiid is ruled out with a mid-foot sprain that has seen him miss the game against the Nets as well as be sidelined for the next game, as he joins an injury list of Harden, Maxey and Jaden Springer in being on the sidelines. NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe brought up the frequency of Sixers players getting injured in the latest episode of “Undisputed”.
What did Shannon Sharpe have to say about the Sixers’ injury problems?
The NBA analyst ripped into the Sixers’ for the injury problems they have faced this season.
Speaking on the latest episode of Undisputed: Skip and Shannon, Sharpe pointed out the frequency with which Sixers’ players are racking up foot injuries this season. Sharpe pointed out the four players out with foot injuries for the Sixers at the moment, and asked Skip Bayless whether the Sixers are “playing in flip flops” – to rack up so many foot injuries at the same time.
However, the long list of injuries did not stop the Sixers from securing a win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, and they will hope to have their starters back as soon as possible.
