NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe warns the Los Angeles Lakers, that LeBron James might leave if they don’t surround him with good talent.
There has been uncertainty revolving around the future of LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers. If the team isn’t in contention, there is a high possibility that LeBron might seek an exit.
As a result, the Lakers have to be very careful regarding this situation. NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has warned the Los Angeles Lakers, that LeBron James might leave if they don’t surround him with good talent.
Shannon said, “The only leverage LeBron James has ever played with any team he’s been on well if you want me to sign back I need to know that you’re invested and that you get LeBron James you know what the stakes are Skip.”
He added, “Since this second year it’s been win a bust, he knows the expectations that he came in with he wasn’t willing to wait to build or we gonna build something we’re gonna wait the trust the process we’ll let these young guys develop he like hell no I ain’t got time to develop I’m not on that timeline I’m on a right now schedule.”
Shannon Sharpe believes the Lakers need to be quick while dealing with LeBron James
Shannon Sharpe further talked about how LeBron James is in a win-now situation. LeBron can’t waste time wasting because he is at the end of his career, and the team needs to maximize his potential.
He said, “The Lakers are on well we we got to see because 2027 2029 LeBron says I will tell you what y’all have them draft picks but you won’t have me in 2023. so that’s that’s that’s the leverage he’s going to see are the Lakers trying to exhaust every possible angle that they possess in order to make this team better to ensure that we have an opportunity to compete for Championship the status quo is not going to be Acceptable you better be trying to find a way now…”
LeBron had a pretty great season last season. He is on track to become the leading scorer in NBA history. He is still playing well, but he can’t do it alone. It is why the Lakers need to be smart in the market so that they can put themselves in the best situation to win.
LeBron might need to figure out how to maximize Russell Westbrook alongside him
Last season was a disaster for the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron had a big say in bringing Westbrook to the team, but it didn’t work out at all.
Head coach Frank Vogel was fired after the team missed the playoffs. The team has brought in Darvin Ham, who has some good plans for Westbrook. LeBron also needs to find a way out to maximize Westbrook playing alongside him, as he can be a real key player for them.
Hopefully, the Lakers will get it all sorted out. Otherwise, the King might be on his way out of Los Angeles pretty soon, and it will haunt the franchise for a very long time.
