On his 50th birthday, Shaquille O’Neal showed the world that he can still dunk. But the big man may have been overzealous as he compared his attempt to one from Dwight Howard back in 2008.
On Tuesday, Shaquille O’Neal and his co-hosts on NBA on TNT had a blast. It’s not like they don’t keep their audience entertained on other days, but this was slightly different.
‘Big Shaq’ was celebrated his 50th birthday a few days ago. And while covering the NBA games with Dwayne Wade, Candace Parker and Adam Lekofe greeted the four-time NBA champion as well.
However, things soon escalated when the crew asked Shaq if he could replicate Dwight Howard’s 2008 Super-Man dunk. Being the sport that he is, Shaq agreed but left the crew in splits with his attempt.
The ex-Lakers star took off his coat while the crew braced themselves. However, O’Neal clearly didn’t have that zing about his dunk when he took off. In face, he barely jumped off the ground.
The recently turned 50-year-old did get up to the rim but its safe to say that his slam wasn’t highlight-worthy. The big man also swung on the rim as he attempted to show some of the viewers his athletic ability.
But the crew were quickly left in splits before they got him back on the panel. After being asked what he felt about his dunk, O’Neal was quick to state that his throwdown was similar to that of Dwight Howard’s Superman dunk at the 2008 All-Star weekend’s Dunk Contest.
Nevertheless, Shaq was still in a good mood. A number of NBA fans on social media were also quick to send their wishes to the former NBA star.
