Shaquille O’Neal has backed Lakers’ Patrick Beverley after the latter’s comments on LeBron James and Anthony Davis playing “with him”, and not the other way around.
Patrick Beverley has been in the headlines all summer since joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a trade deal from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
One of the talking points about the trade deal is how Beverley will get along playing with some of the superstars of the game in LeBron James and Anthony Davis – however, Beverley does not quite agree with the statement put that way.
When asked about how does he feel like having to link up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the upcoming season, Patrick Beverley reverted to his outspoken self and went on to say LeBron James and Anthony Davis will play with him and not the other way around – it was him who qualified for and played the NBA Play-Offs last season, and not the pair of names involved.
The quote has gone viral on social media since, and former NBA superstars have gave their take on it – the latest of them being Shaquille O’Neal.
Speaking on The Big Podcast with Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams., the NBA Hall of Famer backed Beverley for his comments.
When asked about whose do Shaq and Spice think the Lakers will be this season, Spice said: “Don’t ever listen to Pat, man.” However, Shaq backed Beverley as he said: “Stay off my boy Pat. I have nothing bad to say about Pat, know why? He play the game like it’s supposed to be played. Not these dudes making 200, 300 million and can’t play at all.”
Shaquille O’Neal on The Big Podcast“Listen, you want a guy like that on the team, a guy that nobody wants to tamper with.”
Shaq added: “And then when they get traded, y’all say ‘Oh, Shaq hating. Shaq don’t know what he talking about.’ Listen, you want a guy like that on the team, a guy that nobody wants to tamper with.”
Beverley will definitely add some much needed resilience to the Lakers team as they look to reclaim the NBA Championship title.
