Shaquille O’Neal has spoken up about what he thinks will help the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA Championship this upcoming season.
The four-time NBA champion whose legendary NBA career spanned over nearly two decades is most associated with his spell with the Los Angeles Lakers, as the NBA Hall of Famer won three back-to-back NBA Championships with the franchise and still supports them to this day.
Naturally, being a legend of the franchise and of the league, Shaq’s opinions for the LA Lakers specifically are of paramount importance, and he spoke up on what he thinks is necessary for the Lakers to bring the Championship back to the City of Angels for the first time since 2020.
Shaq was speaking to Uproxx as he gave his thoughts on what he thinks will help the Lakers reclaim the NBA Championship this season.
Shaq gave his thoughts on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers.
When asked about his general opinion on the Lakers and whether he agrees with the notion that the Lakers will do well if LeBron James and Anthony Davis stay fit, Shaq said: “Yes, if LeBron and AD stay healthy, they’ll be okay. But in order to be championship quality, they need to pieces around them.“
“Pat Beverley is a good piece, he’s a defensive piece. Russ, I don’t know what he’s gonna do, I don’t know how they’re going to use him. But they need some dogs like Beverley, they need some rebounders, and they need some shooters. That’s all you need.”
“It’s not rocket science. You need a floor leader, someone that’s gonna dominate consistently, every night, you need a knockdown shooter, and you need a guy that’s gonna ruffle some feathers. That’s it. That’s how you win a championship.”
Time will tell whether the Lakers end up reclaiming the Championship, as the new NBA season tips off in October.
