Shaquille O’Neal shared a cryptic message about his intentions of buying an NBA franchise.

Shaquille O’Neal has been linked with buying an NBA franchise for quite a long time. The NBA Hall of Famer has been linked with buying the Phoenix Suns, but backed out when it was revealed that he would go against none other than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in a bidding war. However, it turns out that Shaq’s intentions of buying an NBA franchise are not dead and buried just yet.

It turns out that he is now looking elsewhere to buy a franchise of his choice, and according to Shaq, he is looking towards “home”. O’Neal was in Abu Dhabi for the highly expected preseason NBA games between the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks, and it was then when he spoke to CNN’s Becky Anderson on Sunday – and revealed his latest intentions of buying an NBA franchise.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say,” the eight-time All-NBA First Teamer said while raising his eyebrows when asked about his interest by CNN. “It’d probably be disrespectful to say it, but I would like to go back home. I’ll leave that to the viewers to figure out (what it means). I would like to go back home.”

For a legend with a career such as the one Shaq had, home could mean several places. Shaq played at a high school in San Antonio, Texas, where the Spurs play while his college days were spent at LSU in Baton Rouge. Louisiana are also neighbors to the Pelicans of New Orleans; his first professional contract was in Orlando, where the Magic play. Another option is in Los Angeles, he won a famous three-peat with the Lakers.

Owing to the variety of options, guesswork on the franchise Shaq is aiming for might prove futile – as it is time that will likely reveal the name of the team.
