Skip Bayless hinted at the NBA being too strict with their calls despite Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook bleeding from a face injury against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Los Angeles Lakers secured two important, back-to-back wins on the road against the San Antonio Spurs this past weekend. The Lakers who had an inconsistent start to the season and have been plagued by lack of form as well as injuries had their talisman back for the road trip, and LeBron James’ return to the team helped the Lakers to two important back-to-back wins.
While James and Anthony Davis took their share of the spotlight by combining to give the Lakers back-to-back wins, Russell Westbrook’s contribution off the bench went under the radar. The former MVP has really grown to adapt to his new role of making an impact from off the bench, and he did so with a combined tally of 14 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.
However, Russell Westbrook was trending on social media following the game because of the face injury that he suffered as a result of a collision with Zach Collins. The Spurs man caught Westbrook square in the face on the forehead, resulting in Westbrook bleeding from his face – in an incident that has drawn takes from the basketball community, as well as Skip Bayless.

Skip Bayless gave his take on the incident as he said that the refereeing in the NBA has been too strict with their calls.
Bayless took to his Twitter during the game to give his take on the incident. The analyst wrote: “Zach Collins just caught Russell Westbrook across forehead as he fouled him – drew blood. 1st glance, didn’t look that bad but Collins ejected w a flagrant 2. But bc Russ went after him, Russ got a tech. Back in the day, that play would’ve been a common foul, no flagrant or tech.”
While many did not agree with Bayless’ opinion over the incident, there is no doubt over the fact that the injury was a ruthless one for the former MVP to deal with.
