Former NBA head coach Stan van Gundy hilariously replied to a viral Twitter exchange with Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant is known for his personality and his tendency to voice his feelings on social media. The Nets superstar is known for being one of the most active basketball players when it comes to social media, and he gave yet another example of his frequent activity on social media when he got involved in a hilarious exchange with a former NBA coach about medical teams in the NBA.

Stan Van Gundy took to his Twitter to post his reservations on the currently operating medical teams in the NBA. The coach wrote: “90’s NBA teams had just a trainer and a strength coach, they practiced more often and harder and played more back to backs. Teams now have huge medical & “performance” staffs and value rest over practice. Yet injuries and games missed are way up. Something’s not working!”

Durant seemed to agree with van Gundy’s opinion on the medical teams in the NBA with his response as he replied “Stan spitting.” However, not being able to understand what Durant quite meant and thinking Durant was challenging his viewpoint, van Gundy explained his opinion.

What did Stan van Gundy have to further explain about his viewpoint?

The former NBA head coach further explained his perspective which eventually resulted in a hilarious exchange on Twitter.

Van Gundy wrote: “No. I’m not criticizing players. I’m saying that we are getting something wrong in how we prepare and train players. We can’t do anything about injuries like yours, he fell on your leg. But all of these groin, hamstring injuries etc. shouldn’t be happening as much as they are.” Durant hilariously replied: “Stan, I agree with you lol” as the interaction went viral.

While a fan let van Gundy know that “spitting” means speaking facts, van Gundy hilariously defended himself by saying that he’s getting old. In fact, van Gundy appeared on TNT’s coverage of the game between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors and used the same defense when the interaction was brought up as he said: “My defense is I’m getting old.”
