Stephen A. Smith has ripped into the Los Angeles Lakers as he said that he believes LeBron James could win the Championship with 10 other teams but not the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers have got on to the worst start to any season in their storied history. While the Lakers began their campaign in a Ring Night defeat to the Golden State Warriors, they followed it up with losses to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets–meaning that they now have an unenviable 0-4 start to the new NBA season.
While the team has mostly been blamed for the worst start to any season in the storied franchise’s history – some of the blame has also gone to the hierarchy for targeting the wrong profiles in the off season. While LeBron has had a history of winning Championships when surrounded by shooters, the Lakers’ shooting has been nothing short of disastrous this season.
The Lakers have only converted 22.3% of their total attempted three pointers this season – a disastrous stat and the worst by any team in NBA history over four games. Stephen A. Smith focused on this stat as he explained his opinion that LeBron would win the Championship with 10 teams in the NBA – but not the Lakers.
Smith went on air to explain his opinion of LeBron winning the title with 10 other teams in the NBA right now, but not the Lakers.
Speaking on the latest episode of First Take on ESPN talking about the Lakers’ struggles, the NBA analyst said that the Lakers’ form is “not a knock on LeBron.” Smith went on to say that “LeBron is LeBron”, and the NBA legend would go on to win the Championship if put on a multitude of teams in the NBA and it would be enough to clinch the NBA Championship.
Smith went on to elaborate: “LeBron can be put on a multitude of teams – you could put LeBron on five teams, seven teams, maybe ten teams – instant Championship.” The NBA analyst asked: “What if LeBron was in Dallas? What if LeBron was in Golden State? What if LeBron was in Cleveland? What if LeBron was in Brooklyn? Hell, they’d be a title contender if you put him in Minnesota.”
