Stephen A. Smith explains why the Lakers could start the season a shocking 0-11

Stephen A. Smith explained why the struggling Los Angeles Lakers side could start their season with a shocking 0-11 streak.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a historically bad start to their 2022/23 season. After starting their season with a defeat to the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers followed it up with losses to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Denver Nuggets – meaning a 0-4 start to their season that has already displayed some major weaknesses and a plethora of issues.

The lack of shooters in the roster has been one of the main themes of the Lakers’ struggles this season, as they have completed only 22.3% of their attempted three-pointers – and have even thrown away two games from winnable positions. While fans would hope for the Lakers to turn their season around as soon as possible, Stephen A. Smith has said it will not be that easy.

The NBA analyst has said that even though the Lakers have got off to the worst start in their storied history in the NBA, it may just get even worse for them when one considers the fixtures ahead for the Lakers. Speaking on the latest episode of “First Take” on the Lakers’ struggles, Smith said that the Lakers could take it a step worse and start the season with a 0-11 streak.

What did Smith have to say about the Lakers possibly starting their season on a 0-11 streak?

Smith pointed at the difficulty of the Lakers’ upcoming fixtures and said that when coupled with their current form, they might possibly start the season on a 0-11 run.

Speaking on the latest episode of “First Take” on ESPN, the NBA analyst ripped into the Lakers for their current struggling form. Smith listed the Lakers’ upcoming games – which include a trip to the Minnesota Timberwolves and games against the Denver Nuggets, the New Orleans Pelicans, Utah Jazz, and the Cleveland Cavaliers followed by visits to the Jazz and the Clippers.

The upcoming seven games for the Lakers spell further trouble if they continue in this run of form, and could see the Lakers start the season on a disastrous run of 0 wins and 11 losses. The ruthless Smith even said that if the struggling Lakers end up winning even one of their next seven games – “they would deserve a round of applause.”
